After something like 7 months of on and off work, it is done. It's been a few days since I've posted it for the world, and the response has been more than I expected (which, historically, is nothing.)
You can read that here:
In 2009, I needed to make a lot of sprites, fast.
For what I was doing with my college game dev group, I needed a program that did 3d that I could use to make animation sprites for our XNA game that we were working on. I had been using 3DSMAX (...2009, I think?) but that was not very portable. Most people in my sphere could not open .max files and so it was time to look into what was out there.
This is where my long story with Blender begins. With version 2.39.
I have been playing this game for something like 7 years. Some players have a toxic relationship with Destiny, others with Call of Duty, but mine is Unloved.
I need to post more often, if for no other reason than to get used to it. Here are my thoughts on what I want to do different this year.
Neocities does not use FTP (at least, not in the classic sense), and instead uses a series of apis and libraries to upload files. I wasn't very happy with what was out there, so I made a light-weight-ish script to do this for me. Using Vuepress accelerated the need, as the dist
folder that the build process spits out requires I have an automated way to shunt all these files online.
The following is a brief summation of the most basic Sourdough recipe I know. It is adapted from the New York Times recipe and makes two loaves. Spoiler: It's 70% hydration with 20% starter.
Day 1: Feed your starter, so that you have at least 200g of substance. Leave it in a warm place overnight.
Jack of all trades, master of some. I've been on this god-forsaken earth for just over 30 years and these skills are begging to be applied to something, anything. And so, this site is a place where I can ruminate on the things I do when I'm not doing them.
Call me Mr. Black. With minimal sleuthing you can find my first name is Westin, but I don't respond to that in this context. The original mission of keeping a minimal footprint on the web is a success, but now I leave no shadow. So consider this website that shadow, a small footnote of a footnote that I existed once. I will post about things I find interesting, and there are a lot of those things. I work with computers by trade, do art of all kinds as a human, and was aiming to be a video game maker at one point. I write stories, make comics, sometimes zines and costumes, and other unsavory things.
